In August 1995, Roland and Evelyn Casamina received an Industrial Loan License from the state of Hawaii and opened House of Finance Inc. at 1810 N. King Street in Honolulu. At the time Roland was working as the Vice President of International Savings & Loan and Evelyn was running a money remittance company.
House of Finance Inc. surpassed $100,000,000 in loans since its opening.
A 10-year passion project for Roland, FilCom Center is the largest Filipino community center outside of the Philippines. Through various services, FilCom advances the Filipino community and culture in Hawaiʻi. As President, Roland navigated the project through funding, development, and numerous hurdles to completion. In August 2005, Matt Casamina joined the House of Finance Inc. team as a loan officer.
Due to their lean structure and low overhead, House of Finance Inc. weathered the storm with a continued focus on client service. House of Finance Inc. kept all employees through that period – something Roland says strengthened internal culture and loyalty.
“We became more of a full-fledged bank at that point,” Roland says. “We began processing and approving our own loans without having to rely on anyone else… we were no longer a small potato.”
In January 2012, the House of Finance Center at 2300 N. King Street opened its doors. The new offices and commercial space were built just up the street from their original office. After Evelyn spotted the piece of land, she knew it was right, and Roland worked out a deal to purchase it from Nissan.
The Roland Casamina and House of Finance Inc.. Endowed Scholarship at Shidler College of Business was established to aid undergraduate students who show leadership potential and a passion for community service.
House of Finance Inc. surpassed $1,000,000,000 in loans since its opening.
In May 2014, Clarice Casamina joined the House of Finance Inc. team and focused on marketing and streamlining internal processes while also learning the ropes of working as a loan officer.
In 2020, House of Finance Inc. celebrated 25 years in business by doubling down on their mission. The staff worked tirelessly through long days of economic recession and a flurry of home sales brought on by rock-bottom interest rates – securing money saving refinances and home loans for hundreds of Hawaiʻi families and home buyers.
